Adventure Weeknd in West Virginia
Every
year for the last several years I have lead a group of friends on a
Canoe Trip to see bald eagles that live in our county and we usually do
this over Memorial Day Weekend. For 2012, I'm thinking of changing
things up a bit and Hosting an Adventure Weekend for The Outdoor Podcast
Community. I think it would be awesome to get together y'all and enjoy
a fun filled Adventure Weekend here in West Virginia. Here are some
thoughts for you to consider:
1-Cost will be very minimal to cover food expenses. If you have your own gear bring it, if not then you can rent it locally.
2-Date Memorial Day Weekend. Kick off your summer with adventure. this gives us a 3 day weekend to have fun.
3-This
will involve camping to cut the costs of lodging. However, there is a
nice hotel in our county for those who wish to stay there but you have
to make your own reservations.
4-I will make my famous Pulled Pork!! My stomach is growling already.
We can do any of the following:
- Bald Eagle Sightseeing Canoe Trip with Smallmouth Fishing for those who fish.
- I can do a canoe clinic as well
- Bicycling Trip along the river or on a nearby bike trail
- Bicycle Maintenance Clinic
- If there is interest we can do a 2 day canoe trip where we spend the night along the river.
- Backpacking Trip
- We could do a whitewater rafting trip in Southern West Virginia
- Fly Fishing Clinic
- Horseback Riding On a Scenic Mountain Trail
- Basic Firearms Clinic
- Shooting guns at a semi-local range
- Basic Sheep Husbandry Clinic
I
am posting this to gauge an interest level for an event like
this. I need to know who is interested in attending an event like
this. I can guarantee you that you will have fun, and that you will see
some great scenery and you stand a more than excellent chance at seeing
at least one Bald Eagle and even more Golden Eagles.
